“Slapping Bridges” – Innovative Core Training
September 2nd, 2010 | by admin |
www.synergy-athletics.com – Here is a slight variation of an exercise I picked up from Combat Core. The goal is to create tension on the core through the bridge, then rotate and hit the bag with a swooping strike. Benefits Core Stability, strength, and it gives a mental break to bridging (Ever bridge for a few minutes? It turns into a mental struggle, but with the mixing in of hits, it increases concentration). *Tips* -Make sure you do not “U” your lower back, that puts more stress on the lumbar spine than the abdominal region. -Flex your abs, but do not draw them into your spine, push them out to stabilize the entire core.
