What is a good Jump Rope for a fitness workout?
December 28th, 2009 | by admin |I don’t want anything to serious. But what is the best rope to use for a good workout?
Get a heavy plastic washing line and cut it into jump rope size pieces. You want a heavyish plastic. I skipped for 19 years and tried ALL the latest ones but a washing line was always my choice. The main issue is the surface that you are using to skip on…… for the long term health of your back, ankles, hips and knees keep away from hard surfaces. Try to use a thick rubber mat where possible and stay light on your feet and stretch either midsession or at the end. Look at www.ringside.com or www.title.com I believe that they have good dvds on skipping? Never look at the floor when skipping. Focuss on something on the wall……. stay with it…. it’s an amazing art form.

You can buy a leather rope or a speed rope. Speed ropes are plastic and have a little bit of a "feel" to it when you spin around. Wear some high socks or else it’ll hurt when they catch your shins. If you’re a short person, make sure you get a shorter rope or else it’ll feel really weird and tiring for your arms to hold it up.
