OKU: THE SECRETS The etymology of the
Japanese word for secrets contains the character for "inside", a
character also found in the word for wife. Okusan or 'Mrs.
Inside' is the name for the one woman meant to protect and guard her
husband's most inner character. The okuma is the deepest
interior of a Japanese house. The oku-no-in is the innermost
sanctuary of a Shinto Shrine. And the okugi are the
"hidden teachings" of the martial arts. |
